Product Description
MBBR Filter media process in which millions of underwater polyethylene (HDPE) biofilm carriers move in an aerated or mechanical mixing tank. Each carrier element contains multiple cells on a protected surface area to maintain a dense colony of attached growing fixed membrane microorganisms (heterotrophic and autotrophic bacteria). As the neutral buoyancy carrier moves throughout the water column, oxygen and organic/inorganic materials can be used in biofilms to absorb, oxidize and reduce these pollutants, thereby providing a treatment method. The dense bacterial population provides high productivity, enhanced nitrification/denitrification, process stability, small footprint and easy operation.
Process Advantage
MBBR Filter media is a one-stop process without the need to manage MLSS, the ratio of food to microorganisms and the return activated sludge (RAS) associated with conventional suspended growth systems.
Process Stability
The MBBR process is not only flexible under toxic shock loads and extreme temperature conditions, but also self-blowning, and naturally responds to fluctuations in organic matter and nutrient loads. Since the biofilm resides on the retained medium in each reactor tank, potential "washout" events due to hydraulic fluctuations are eliminated.
Compact Design
Usually 25% to 50% of the traditional system size
Larger biofilm carrier filling rate can increase scalable system capacity
Enhanced oxygen transmission efficiency
As oxygen bubbles rise in the water column, the biofilm carrier acts as a shearing device that enhances oxygen transmission.
Transform any treatment process
The staged MBBR can be added to the lagoon, RBC, SBR, etc. for coarsening, nitrification and/or denitrification, while the "in the soup" integrated fixed membrane activated sludge (IFAS) upgrade is for conventional activated sludge systems It is more common.
Wide range of process applications
Industrial and high-intensity waste streams; coarsening reactors; three-stage anoxic denitrification reactors; sites requiring minimal management and supervision; lagoons, oxidation ditch and RBC upgrades; cold weather nitrification/denitrification; slow development (will Only perform a small part of the design process).
