The administrators of UK baking firm Peters Bakery, which entered into administration last week, have received expressions of interest from potential buyers.

A spokesperson for the administrators told just-food that it was too early to disclose information about the identity of the buyers but confirmed some interest had been received.

This offer could represent anything from part of the company to the whole business, and currently, the administrators are talking to the interested parties, the spokesperson added.

Peters Bakery appointed Mark Firmin and Howard Smith of KPMG as joint administrators after tough retail environment and rising energy and commodity prices forced the firm into administration.

The company's administrators have kept all the 58 stores of the company open while seeking for a buyer.

Peters Bakery, a Durham-based family business, is a wholesale supplier and also operates stores across the north-east of England. It has a turnover of £12m.
